If you’re a Google user, there’s a good chance you have an account. But if you want to stop using it, there are a few steps you can take. First, go to the Google website and sign in. Then find the “account termination” link on the left-hand side of the page. This will take you to a page that explains how to end your account. There are a few things you need to do before terminating your account:

  1. Choose your reason for wanting to stop using Google: personal reasons such as moving or changing jobs; business reasons such as being out of business; or legal reasons such as being sued.
  2. Enter your contact information and password for both your account and your computer.
  3. Click on the “terminate my account” button.
  4. Your computer will start up with a message asking if it’s okay to close down your Google account. If it says no, click on “yes.” Your account will be terminated and all of your data will be backed up and preserved until you decide to reopen it again at some future date.
