If you’re like most people, you rely on your home button to take screenshots on your iPhone or iPad. But if your home button is broken, you may have to find another way to capture the screen. Here are four ways to screenshot without using your home button.
- Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons If you have an iPhone or iPad with a physical Home Button, you can use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons to take a screenshot. Just hold down one of the buttons until the screen flashes and then release it.
- Use QuickTime Player If you don’t have a physical Home Button on your iPhone or iPad, you can use QuickTime Player to take a screenshot. Just open QuickTime Player and click the Screenshot icon (it looks like a camera). Then hold down the Command (⌘) key and press the Space bar at the same time. The screen will flash and QuickTime will take a screenshot of it.
- Use AirPlay Mirroring If you have an Apple TV set up as a mirroring device, you can use AirPlay Mirroring to take a screenshot of what’s on your iPhone or iPad screen. Just make sure that AirPlay is turned on in Settings > General > AirPlay & Bluetooth > Screen Sharing & Mirroring > On (or turn it off if it’s not needed). Then just mirror what’s on your iPhone or iPad screen onto your Apple TV screen using Control-CMD-M (or just Control-CMD-M if there’s no app in front of the TV). When it’s done, press Return/Enter on your Apple TV remote to save the screenshot in Photos app or hit Command-S (or ⌘-S) on Macs/PCs/iPhones/iPads running iOS 11+ for screenshots only - no video recording! ..
