If you are a Mac administrator and have forgotten your administrator password, there are a few steps you can take to reset it without having to go through the hassle of resetting your entire computer.

  1. Open the System Preferences app and click on the Security & Privacy tab.
  2. In the Password section, click on the Reset button and enter your administrator password in the text field.
  3. Click on the Reset button and confirm your password by clicking on the OK button.
  4. The system will now reboot and will be able to start using your new administrator password again.
