Apple IDs are required to use many of the features of the Apple products. If you lose or forget your Apple ID, you may be unable to use your products. To remove a device from your Apple ID, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Apple account and click on the “Accounts” tab.
  2. Click on the “Apple ID” link under “Your name.”
  3. In the “Password” field, enter a new password and click on the “Create password” button.
  4. In the “Confirm password” field, enter a new confirmation code and click on the “Create confirmation code” button.
  5. Click on the “Delete account?” link under “Your name.” If prompted, enter a new password and confirm it by clicking on the “Delete account?” button again.
  6. Click on the “Log out?” link under “Your name.” If prompted, enter a new password and confirm it by clicking on the “Log out?” button again.
  7. Click on the “I’m sorry but I can’t log in to my Apple account because I have an old Apple ID." link under “Your name” to create a new Apple ID if you don’t already have one; or if you already have an existing Apple ID but want to change it to an iPhone-based one (see below). If you’re using iCloud for storage or for other purposes (like managing photos), after logging out of your iCloud account and logging in again, you’ll be able to continue using your old iCloud passwords without having to re-enter them every time you want to access something from iCloud (assuming that everything is still backed up).
