If you’re a Mac user, you know that screenshotting is a great way to capture a moment and share it with others. But sometimes, you might not have the option to screenshot something. For example, if you’re using Yosemite or Mavericks, you can’t screenshot anything that’s in the background. Luckily, there are ways to workaround this issue. Here are three ways:

  1. Use an app like Snapseed or iPhoto to take a screenshot of your document or application in the foreground. This will allow you to take a screenshot of whatever is currently in front of your screen without having to worry about the background image.
  2. Use AirDrop or iCloud Drive to send a file over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and then take a screenshot of it using Snapseed or iPhoto. This will let you take screenshots of files that are already on other devices without having to transfer them first.
  3. Use Spotlight on your Mac to search for screenshots and then take one by pressing Command-S (or Option-S on Windows). This will let you take screenshots of any document or application that’s currently highlighted in Spotlight.
