If you’re using an iPhone or other mobile device, there’s a good chance that you’re using IMAP. IMAP is an email service that allows you to store your email in the cloud and access it from any device. If you disable IMAP on your phone, your email will be stored on your computer and you won’t be able to access it from any device. To disable IMAP on your phone, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app and select Mail, Contacts, and Calendar.
  2. In the Accounts section, select the account that holds yourIMAP settings. If you don’t have an account with IMAP, click the link below to create one:
  3. In the Accounts section, select the account that holds yourIMAP settings and click on the “Disable” button next to “IMAP.”
  4. Click on “OK” to close all of the dialogs and return to the main Settings app screen.
