If you’re like most people, you use Facebook to keep in touch with friends and family. But if you’re feeling a little too connected to your online world and want to take a break from the social media site, here’s how to change your Facebook account settings. To begin, log in to your Facebook account. Once you’re logged in, click on the “Account” tab at the top of the screen. On the “Account” page, click on the “Settings” link in the left column. On the “Settings” page, under “General,” click on the “Privacy Settings” link. On the “Privacy Settings” page, under “Who can see my profile?” select either “Only Me,” or choose one of your friends who has permission to view your profile. If you want to make your profile private for everyone except for certain people (like family members), select “Public.” Click on the blue button that says “[Change Profile Picture]” below Public and select a picture that represents who you are today. Click on “[Save Changes]” below Your Profile Picture. Now that your privacy settings are set up how you want them, it’s time to change some of your other Facebook settings. To do this, click on the blue button that says “[Change Account Settings]” below Your Profile Picture and select one of these options: Basic Information: This is where you can change your name and email address; these are also used when signing up for new accounts or sending messages through Facebook Messenger (if you have it installed). You can also choose whether or not to show people when they search for you on Facebook what schools or workplaces you’ve attended.
