It’s been a little over a week since Snapchat announced it would be suspending all user accounts for six months after detecting “unauthorized use.” The company says the suspension is necessary to “maintain the security and integrity of our service.” But some users are wondering if they can just delete their account and start fresh. According to Snapchat, deleting your account won’t affect your daily snaps or any other data you have on the app. However, if you want to stop using the app permanently, you’ll need to create a new one and enter your Snapchat username and password.
